CERVICAL SMEAR INFORMATION
This page helps to provide information on the cervical smear NHS National screening Programme
You will be invited for a cervical screening test every 3 or 5 years depending on your age. Please find a thorough description of what happens at a cervical screening appointment here: Guidance: Cervical Screening
At The Wellington Practice, the procedure will be carried out by one of our two highly experienced female nurses. You will never be booked an appointment with a GP or a male member of staff.
If childcare is an issue, you are welcome to bring them with you to the appointment providing they are safe within a clinical setting. A curtain will be drawn within the room, between you and anyone who comes along to your appointment. We know of patients who have booked appointments at the same time as friends to enable a childcare swap in the waiting room. We also offer evening and weekend appointments to allow as much flexibility as possible.
If there’s anything we can do to help you feel more comfortable in booking these important appointments, please let us know.
