Appointments

Routine appointments can be booked either by phone or in person at the surgery. We will endeavour to give you an appointment with a GP within two working days.

Wellington Practice works with an extended specialised clinical team which includes GPs, Practice Nurses, Paramedics and Pharmacists. Appointments are available mornings and afternoons and an extended surgery is held on Monday & Tuesday evenings until 20:00hrs & 19:30hrs respectively. We also have appointments available with a GP on Saturday mornings from 10.00-12.30pm. We have a limited number of urgent on the day appointments available and these will be assessed by our Pre-Triage system. Please call the surgery at 08:00hrs if you require an emergency appointment.

Appointments booked more than 2 weeks in advance cause an increase in patients not attending. We would be grateful if when making an appointment more than 2 weeks in advances you do make a note in your diary to ensure you do not miss the appointment. If you are booking a routine follow-up appointment, you can do this up to four weeks in advance. Please phone the surgery after 10.30am to avoid our very busy early morning period.

Appointments for Doctors are available to book online using Patient Online Access via the link at the top of this page.

Many routine appointments are for those patients who require regular monitoring of a chronic or long term condition. We will let you know when your appointment is due by text, email or post.

Urgent cases are assessed by our Pre-Triage system and if deemed urgent you will be seen the same day. If you feel you require an urgent appointment please contact us as soon as required.

If you require an urgent appointment and it is after 12pm, it will be dealt with by the duty doctor. On exceptionally busy days the duty doctor may telephone prior to an appointment being offered in order to ascertain your clinical priority.

Telephone appointments are available with some doctors. If you wish to speak to a doctor or nurse on the phone we will pass your details on to them and they will ring you back.

The surgery is particularly busy on Mondays, especially during the winter months. If your appointment is not urgent please try and book on a less busy day.

If we can’t offer you an immediate appointment, a member of the Clinical Team may call you back after 12pm. He or she will ring you on the telephone number we have on your medical record. If you are only available on a mobile phone then please ensure that you give us your mobile number.

If your condition deteriorates you should telephone the surgery again or contact 111.

Home Visits – Paramedic Home Visiting

If possible please try to telephone reception before 11:00 AM if you require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Our home visits are carried out by qualified Paramedics who will visit you following an assessment by your GP.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You may also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
