CORONAVIRUS .

If you have had any contact with the surgery in recent times, you are likely to have noticed a difference in the way things are being done. We have done this to ensure those that do not necessarily need to be seen Face to Face are not asked to come to the surgery unnecessarily to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus and it’s variants.  The information below shows you how we plan to operate from now on:

Making an appointment

Our GP practice now offers

  • Routine appointments by telephone or in person bookable up to two weeks ahead and these are all offered online as well ie via Patient Online Access App
  • Video consultation at your request when booking an appointment
  • We will continue to operate a triage system for the “on the day” urgent requests.  This does not mean you need to be seen on the day, it depends on the GP assessment of your request
  • Wherever possible we will need you to complete an online consultation via KLINIK as this is the quickest way to provide the right information to the GP for assessment.  This is our preferred method for the “on the day” demand as it provides the GP with much more information to make a sound judgement on your request and decision on next steps
  • If we need to see you in person, and you are COVID positive we will be asking you to follow a specific set of instructions, usually sent to you via SMS text so your mobile number needs to be UpToDate on our system.
  • We will continue to be sending you a COVID screening text prior to any in-person appointments
Attending your appointment

  • Please continue to bring a face covering or mask if you have one and do not arrive in the building more than 5 minutes before your appointment time.  (Recognised exemptions to wearing of a face mask still operate for those that it applies to)
Repeat prescriptions

  • Continue to use our websiteKLINIK online consultation or email to order your repeat prescription. You do not need to come to the surgery to register to do this.  TELEPHONE Requests will NOT be accepted
How can you help?

  • Please be patient – our phone lines are very busy;
  • Do you have a condition that you can treat at home? If you do then please try to do this with advice from either your pharmacist or from NHS online;
  • Do you simply need general advice? If you do, can you call 111 for this or visit our website to access e-consult
  • If you think you may have Covid-19, DO NOT go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Use the NHS111 Online service to find out what to do next: 111.nhs.uk/covid-19;
  • Please help the receptionist by giving them as much information as possible and answer any questions they may have. This will help us prioritise calls and have the right clinician call you back.
  • Have you nominated a pharmacy for the transmission of electronic prescriptions?  This will prevent the need for either you or pharmacy staff from coming to the surgery. The nomination of a pharmacy can be done via your online app or speaking to your pharmacist or GP surgery directly.
  • You can email the practice at nehfccg.wellington.practice@nhs.net
  • Please check our website for updates
